Hide Ya Books, Cause they Burning Libraries Out Here! As you’ve already heard, a small congregation in Florida has sparked a national controversy when they scheduled a Quran burning. Terry Jones, pastor of a congregation of about 50, announced last week that his congregation would burn 200 copies of the Quran in response to the building of a Mosque near the site of the tragedy of 9/11.
Mr. Jones… I have a few issues with this cross burning… I’m sorry I mean Quran burning. First, you barely have gotten 50 people to listen to you on a consistent basis, who are you to demand the attention of the country and make Gainesville, Fl target for terrorist attacks? You may not believe that building a mosque near ground zero is appropriate. I for one think it’s a reckless act that will end up getting people hurt. However, scheduling an event that appears bigoted is not the way to get your opinion across.
My second issue is that people say well they (Muslim extremists) burn Bibles. As a Christian (follower of Christ) is it really consistent to return evil for evil? “Return evil for evil to no one” – Rom. 12:17. Does Jesus approve of such acts being performed in his name?
Mr. Jones it is my advice to you is instead of burning crosses, Qurans, flags, people, LeBron James jerseys or whatever is next on your agenda…to turn the other cheek instead of showing your butt.
But that’s just my opinion and probably why I’m in the corner
